创作背景

2010年，约翰·卡尼为自己导演的电影《曼哈顿恋习曲》写好剧本，并因而请来格雷格·亚历山大为该电影创作音乐，《Lost Stars》便是在这样的契机下写成的。2012年夏天，《Lost Stars》在美国纽约的Electric Lady录音室中被录制完成。在制作歌曲的过程中，格雷格·亚历山大、尼克·拉什利、尼克·索思伍、丹妮尔·布里瑟布瓦完成了词曲创作，丹妮尔·布里瑟布瓦负责歌曲的人声部分的制作和编排，器乐编排由前三者完成。
